We were not really looking for a stallion and thought we ought
to wait for a couple of years, when I noticed a wonderful black stallion
advertised at stud in a German magazine. He was showing the most impressive
passage and his collected work was such settled and powerful and he was
to make things even more attractive as he was out of some of the most proven
bloodlines of the Trakehner breed. I phoned Erhard Schulte up and asked
him to find out if this stallion was for sale. After four weeks Erhard left
a message on the answer machine saying, he had some interesting news regarding
Arentino. We went to Germany and saw Arentino in September 2001 and he joined
our stud two months later. Our thanks goes to Arentino’s previous
owners Roswitha and Carl Schwecht for selling him to us and to Erhard for
phoning them up and taking me and Edward to see him.![]() Arentino’s Sire Santiago by Premium stallion Wie Ibikus and out of the foundation Champion riding horse Premium graded and Elite awarded mare Schwalbenlied was Champion of the grading in 1980 and was a very substantial big framed grandson of the legendary Ibikus. Wie Ibikus himself produced in only two years standing at stud a big number of high successful dressage horses competing up to Grand Prix, amongst them the graded sons Va Tout (international Grand Prix horse) and the very well known dressage Sires Kiebitz (father of Banditentraum) and Ferrum. Santiago himself produced a number of outstanding broodmares as for example Argentina (full sister to Arentino), Cinzana (Chabrol's dam), Kelly Lady, Countess, Fortuna and Chanel. His real value can be seen in his offspring’s competition results, amongst a big group of successful horses in advanced competitions, such as the international three-day-event-horse Campari, who for many years was the most successful Trakehner in this sort of competition and the Grand-Prix-dressage horses Satchmo, Kapitan, Kaschmir and Finalist. Arentino’s mother E.St Arktis II presents herself as one of the most valuable broodmares of the whole Trakehner breed, being a full sister to the great Elite stallion Arogno, (Sire of Schwadroneur and Partout), which was the real reformation of the breed within the last 30 years. Their sire Flaneur was Reserve Champion of the grading and was Premium graded and the most successful Trakehner stallions alive in 1977. Besides Arentino she produced the St.Pr.u.Pr Mare Argentina by Santiago (full sister to Arentino), which was Champion and Supreme Champion of many shows, also Anteus by Saint Cloud, successful three-day-event-horse on advanced level, Arktikos by Blazflug, doing so well in Austria in Prix St.Georges and Altlantis by Velasquea, Reserve Champion of the central grading and show in Denmark. The mare family originates from the TB mare Arcticomius xx, which is one of only three TB mares to be awarded the Elite title. Arktis II was awarded Elite mare status in year 2004 by the Trakehner verband in Germany. This bloodline is a guarantee for high natural riding ability and therefore we believe in Arentino, as a donator of dressage attitudes, kind temperament and powerful movements. He himself was successfully ridden in dressage up to Prix St.George and Intermediaire and he did really well out on the show jumping circuit too, which was something that he preferred himself to dressage. This is a real gentleman with an outstanding character, kind attitudes and noble presence. He is without a doubt a top class stallion. Arentino is tested for EVA and CEM in January every year. He has completed his 100 days performance test in Germany and is standing at stud from 1st of May until the end of July. Arentino's foals are very correct in conformation, they got his lovely lovely temperament and super uphill paces. Most are black with some brown and bay, as Arentino can not sire chestnut foals.
Arentino has two graded
sons.
Singing Horatio graded in
2006 with the English Trakehner Society and out of Arentino's first
English crop of foals and now standing at stud with the Busby Family
from the Keatinge Stud in Stratford England.
Horatio passed a grade 1 Elite performance test
in England 2008.
Singing Herbstglanz graded
in 2007 also with the English Trakehner Society and out of Arentino's
second crop of foals. In 2009 Singing
Herbstglanz passed the 70 day performance test in Germany which now
means he is accepted
as a world wide breeding stallion.
.
Arentino is the only
Trakehner stallion in England to have two graded sons grade one
year after the other.
In 2010 Arentino's only two born foals (one filly and one colt) in New Zealand took the overall Champion and Reserve Championship of all ages and sex evaluated and graded in the hole of New Zealand. German judges comments where that both foals was in the top end of the likes of the German breeding program and that the colt should be kept entire. |
